Hair Removal Safety for Women
Most women naturally grow body and facial hair. However, society says that hair is unattractive, unclean, masculine, or ape-like. Feelings of embarrassment cause women everywhere to obsess over removing excess hair. There are several safe ways to remove hair, including:
1. Laser hair removal
Laser hair removal is fast, predictable and precise. It targets roots of hair so don’t use root hair removal techniques for six weeks prior to laser hair removal. A gel protects your skin while concentrated light pulses into your hair follicles. Hair roots die and fall out within four weeks. Laser hair removal is safe for all body parts.
2. Shaving
When shaving your body, face or head use scissors to cut long hair as close to your skin as possible. Taking a hot shower or applying a hot cloth for a few minutes softens the hair and follicles. Lather on foam or gel and use a sharp razor to shave in direction of hair growth. Rinse with hot water, foam up again and shave against hair growth. If this pulls, trim sideways to get the closest shave possible.
3. Waxing
Waxed hair should be at least ¼ inch long so wax grabs it. Wash and gently exfoliate before applying soft wax with the direction of hair growth. Lay a cloth over wax, gently tighten your skin and pull against the hair growth.
4. Hair removal creams
Hair removal creams remove hair by dissolving hair near the root. Many creams work well on sensitive skin and contain aloes and vitamin E to soothe the skin before and after hair elimination. You must read the label on the product. Some creams work only on fine hair. Test a small area on your forearm for allergic reactions like burning or itching before using, especially on sensitive skin like your face or pubic hair. Wash with soap and water before applying depilatory cream. Spread cream over your hair and wait the allotted time. Wash off in the shower to ensure all chemical is removed.
5. Epilators
Epilators remove short hair that waxing can’t grab. Kits may include deep and gentle exfoliation brushes, a shaving head and a deep massage pad. Epilators work on sensitive skin too. Epilators are waterproof and safe wet or dry. Place the epilator against taut, clean, dry skin and guide it against hair growth. Smaller epilators are made for using on facial hair.
