Popular Plastic Surgeries
Every day, people are looking to enhance their appearances through various mediums. While some turn to temporary methods, such as learning new makeup techniques or starting a new exercise regimen; others decide to take a more permanent route by going under the knife and getting plastic surgery. Modern medical advancements have created a variety of surgeries to help people mold themselves physically into the person they dream to be.
These are the most popular and mainstream plastic surgeries in North America:
1. Botox
Botox is a non-surgical treatment that involves injecting a neurotoxin into specific parts of the body, usually the face. While it is largely known for its ability to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles causing them, Botox is also administered as a treatment for muscular, bowel, and bladder disorders. Due to how versatile the treatment is, it is administered to over 6 million patients in America every year.
2. CoolSculpting
Coolsculpting is a non-invasive treatment that involves freezing fat cells in the desired area in order to kill fat cells using a CoolSculpting device. The procedure has gained popularity for the fact that patients receiving it do not need anesthetic and is very short, taking as little as 35 minutes or as long as 75 minutes to reach completion based on the part of the body that the procedure is taking place on.
3. Liposuction
Liposuction is a plastic surgery that involves sucking the fat from pinpointed areas in the body. This allows the patient to have a slimmer body shape. The most popular form, tumescent liposuction, involves using a saline solution to numb the area about to be suctioned. From there, the liquid and the fat it is encasing is sucked from the body using a small tool called a cannula. The surgery is quite popular in America, with patients getting lipo about 300,000 times yearly.
4. Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation is the term used for a medical surgery that manipulate the shape of the breasts. This surgery covers a variety of procedures ranging from making the breasts bigger to replacing a breast that has been surgically removed in order to prevent the spread of breast cancer. Breast augmentation surgery involves using implants made of silicone or saline to augment the breast and create a preferable appearance for the patient. This surgery is very popular with approximately 350,000 breast augmentations annually.
5. Rhinoplasty
A rhinoplasty is a medical term for a nose job. During this surgery, the surgeon reshapes the patient’s nose by either reducing its size or making changes to different areas to make it look more suitable to the face. Annually, about 225,000 Americans undergo rhinoplasty.
